Dear parents/carers,

I am so excited to welcome you and your child as your journey at Mab’s Cross begins. I am Miss Mulcrow and I will be your child’s Reception teacher this year. I am lucky enough to work with three wonderful, experienced teaching assistants, Mrs Hodge, Mrs Watson and Mrs Beard, who, like myself, share a love and passion for Early Years. I have been teaching for 10 years within various year groups ranging from Reception to Year 3. This has provided me with a good understanding of the future learning that lies ahead for your little one, but has also taught me that my true passion lies within the Early Years, where I can embed a solid foundation for your child’s future success.

Within my classroom, continuous provision, enhancements and quality interactions all play an important part in shaping your child to become a curious, resilient and independent learner that shows perseverance in the face of challenge. This allows them to access learning regardless of their needs and ensures they develop within both the prime and specific areas. We strive for an inclusive, safe, warm and welcoming classroom environment. My door is always open for any questions or general news you would like to share. I believe that communication is the key to your child’s success and to a great teacher/parent relationship. I encourage you to speak or contact me or the teaching assistants if you have any concerns at any time.

I will ensure you are part of your child’s journey by regularly uploading classroom activities to our class Dojo story and would love to receive photos of your child’s successes and achievements outside the classroom, which will be shared with their friends during Show and Tell. I ask that you support us and your child’s learning at home by reading 4x each week and completing busy book tasks. You will also be updated fortnightly by the headteacher via a school newsletter – look out for your child’s name in case they are the star of the week or British Value winner!

I am really looking forward to meeting you all and discovering everything there is to know about your child. I can’t wait to watch and support your child grow during their first of many years at our school. A magical year full of learning and fun lies ahead! This is where the adventure begins!
