Welcome to Year 6!
Hello, I'm Mrs Grundy and I’m delighted to be a part of the fantastic team here at Mab’s Cross Primary School. With 12 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. It’s a real privilege to work with our Year 6 pupils as they complete their final year of primary school and prepare for the exciting transition to high school.
This year, we’ll be exploring some fascinating topics in class. In our "Frozen Kingdom" topic, we’ll investigate the icy worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic, learning about the unique environments, wildlife, and the challenges of survival in such extreme conditions. Later in the year, we’ll step back in time during our "Revolution" topic, discovering what life was like during the Victorian era and how it shaped the world we live in today. Finally, we’ll dive into the vibrant culture of Mexico in our "Hola Mexico" topic, comparing life in the UK to that in Central America and celebrating differences and similarities in geography, traditions, and daily life.
Homework is set weekly and will focus on consolidating key skills in maths, reading, and spelling. All tasks are designed to support your child’s learning and help them build confidence ahead of secondary school. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me via Edulink. I’ll also be sharing class updates, pictures, and achievements on Class Dojo Stories, so you can stay connected with everything happening in Year 6.
I’m very much looking forward to a fun, successful, and memorable year with your children!
