Dear parents/ carers,
I would like to welcome you and your child to Year 2 at Mab’s Cross Primary School. My name is Mrs Alcock and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I am looking forward to inspiring your child to develop a love of learning.
My aim is to create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom, where every child feels safe, valued and able to reach their full potential. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to take risks, ask questions, and explore new ideas.
I believe that learning should be interactive, meaningful and fun! In our classroom, we focus on our values of respect, responsibility and perseverance, whilst developing empathy, raising self-esteem, independence and communication skills.
This year, our topics will be Land Ahoy, Movers and Shakers and Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. Our Land Ahoy topic enables us to sail the seas, whilst we navigate, investigate and explore the world. In our Movers and Shakers topic, we learn about historically significant people who have had a major impact upon the world, such as Emmeline Pankhurst. In Towers, Tunnels and Turrets, we discover what life inside a castle was like.
I believe that a strong partnership between parents and teachers is a key to a child’s success. I will be sharing updates through Dojo, Edulink and termly newsletters. If you have any concerns, queries or information that you would like to share with me, please contact me through Edulink or speak to me after school.
There are many ways to support your child’s learning, from reading together at home to volunteering in a classroom or at school events. If you are interested in participating, please let me know.
I am looking forward to working with you to ensure that your child has a successful year.
Best regards,
Mrs Alcock
